Dry Rot is caused primarily by fungal growth and can be very damaging to the structural timber of a building. It is an aggressive condition and can quickly take hold and spread across a buildings infrastructure if not treated quickly and properly. Dry Rot spores are present in most properties to a degree and normally quite harmless. However, if they are given sufficent moisture the spores will germinate and form a large fluffy cotton wool like fungus. Continued moisture content from for example a leaky pipe, roof, gutters or down pipes will enable further germination and the spread of dry rot.
Professional Dry Rot treatments will eradicate this problem properly if identified early enough. It is important to identify and treat quickly as the treatment is a much more cost effective method than having to replace timbers
